Not surprised. When I worked for Central Tractor many years ago the people that drove brand new dually pickups would beat us up over price far worse than the guys that did not have two dimes to rub together. In your case the lady of the house may have issued an edict over the amount spent. I found some guys were easier to deal with when the wife was not along. Also, I have seen some pretty poor planning by ordinary joe's. Guys who could not build a big enough building for what was already there that they planned on putting inside with money being no problem.
