I had a 2005 F-150 with the smaller V-8 I used to haul a Case 800 from Indiana to Virginia. Weight is close to what you are looking at. Had low miles at the time and it was all that truck wanted, and it seemed to need to stop and rest at every gas station. Coming out of the New River Gorge on I-64 (5 miles of 7.5% grade) I was pedal to the metal doing 35 MPH.A little better coming up the back side of Afton Mountain.
I have since gotten a new Ford F150 with the turbo V-6. Rated 13000lbs towing and it eats hills. Same New River grade with a 4000lb tractor, dropped below 70 MPH once, to negotiate a sharp curve, then right back to 70. I know it was a lighter tractor, but turbo chargers are amazing.
