The Duramax diesel and Allison transmission are hard to beat for towing. You obviously want the towing package but be aware that doesn't include towing mirrors which I would recommend adding. I am very fond of the Ford F150s and that is what my personal truck is . My company truck is a 3500 Chevy with the Duramax and we use it for towing a 24 ft goose neck trailer as well as snow plowing in the winter. (I'm in Maine) I had my choice when we purchased the truck between the GM,Ford or Dodge and I decided on the GM (Wanted a GMC but the Chevy was in stock) and haven't had any regrets.
