BTW, when I was in the Marine Corps, I knew a Navy CPO who had been on flight duty for a number of years, and then quit flying. At a party one evening, another CPO asked him how he liked not being on flight duty, and commented, "I suppose you miss that flight pay".
The Chief's wife asked, "Honey, what's flight pay?" He'd been rat-holing all of his flight pay while they lived off of his regular Chief's pay. Three days later, they were driving a new car.
