Hi All,
As some may know, I have been working on re-coring a radiator for my Farmall F-20. In the process, I had to remove two broken studs from the bottom tank that hold the hand crank system. I put two new studs in and the radiator is now reassembled and back on the tractor.
During leak testing with just water, I found one of the studs had a slight leak, as the studs go straight through into the bottom of the water tank.
My question is, should I remove the stud and apply any sort of teflon tape to it or gasket maker? Or should I just leave it as is?
I was able to tighten it and the leak appeared to have stopped, though as I will be filling the radiator with antifreeze, I want to make sure it will not start leaking again in the future. I did have to drill out the old stud on this particular stud, so the threads aren't quite as tight as they should be.
