See if you can find out what the long time first owner had for water supply. If it came from a drilled well in hill country it would be OK if it were a dug well in river bottom land or municipal water from a surface reservoir it would tend towards acidic. Back in the seventies nobody new about SCAs so the acid water made them perforate a lot more quickly. The 9000 is also known for shifter fork problems. They changed the linkage for the 9600. Make sure it shifts smoothly. If it has Dual Power it is a great durable unit, but it is difficult to tell its condition. The DP is not difficult or expensive to reseal however. Like any old tractor it will have had a lot of condensation in the cases over the years and there can be a half inch of sludge on the bottom. of the rear housing if it has not been cared for.
