Hate to tell you but you DO NOT have a 47 9N Ford as the 9N was not made then. The 9N was only madefrom 1939 to midway of 1942. You might have a 2N as they were made late 42 into 1947. But the control valve from an 8N will not work in a 9N or 2N. And the pump in my 1944 2N has done the knocking under heavy load for years and I see no reason to change it. I do not know if the 8N pump is interchangeable with the earlier 9N - 2N pumps or not. But forget about the knocking, it soes not hurt anything.
