It�s appears to be a large �paddle wheel� type flat bladed fan. Must require a fair amount of horsepower to turn. I did not know what it was until I googled after reading this post. I saw a video of an R JD belted up to one. When he finally snapped the clutch in after about a half minute of slipping it the old two lunger was begging for mercy. Lugged down to about the point where you can count the cylinders firing. I�m attaching a thread to the smokestak forum which has a picture of one.
