I have a 2005 1500 Z71 with the 5.3 engine. I had some lifter noise and some odd oil pressure readings. I thought I had some lifter problems but on further inspection the oring on the pickup tube was cracked. The final clue was when I went to change the oil and had only had the engine running for a few minutes. The oil was full of air bubbles when I drained it. Normally I would change the oil after having driven it for at least several miles and the oil was still hot. I changed the oring and the issue was resolved. The oring on the pickup tube is above the oil level in the pan so if it is cracked it can suck air.
