I agree Dan, I like having the posts in order from earliest to latest. Otherwise it gets confusing when it's a problem solving thread. I also like having new post come to the top. One thing I do like about Classic is posting pics, I haven't figured out how to post pics in Modern yet. Another feature I like about Modern is you can see when a person joined the site and how many posts they have.
I think it is very nice of the site owners to operate both Classic and Modern to accommodate different preferences. When a forum switches software you'd be surprised at how many people leave because of the new design.
