Is it a wood-furnace only or a combo multifuel? If wood only, a new EPA replacement works pretty nice. Burns amazingly clean for a furnace. Unlike woodstoves, furnaces have been exempt from EPA regs for a long time. Now some cleaning burning ones are showing up. I got my EPA furnace from Tractor Supply and really like it. It first was for sale only in Canada for big bucks and was called the "EPA Caddy." Now in the USA and a lot cheaper. I did NOT want an outdoor furnace and installed this one instead. I also looked into geo-thermal and decided against it. The ones used around here use a lot of electricity and well water pumping.
