I got a ticket once and went to court to contest it. The person ahead of me got one for "failure to yield". She was turning right out of a gas station onto the main road. Traffic was stopped for the traffic light. When the light turned green and cars started to move, a driver waved her into the street ahead of him (he was still stopped). Very courteous, IMO. A cop was a couple of cars back and when she cleared the intersection pulled her over and ticketed her. It gets worse. She was driving a van for a senior citizens center and got fired for getting the ticket. The judge was not sympathetic. She fined her over $100, IIRC. The young girl started crying, saying he had no job and no money. The judge said that's too bad and you have 1 week to pay it or a warrant would be issued with a possible 90 days in jail. I was flabbergasted at the idiocy of the judge.
