I take it that you are not known to the auctioneer. If he knew you personally most will take the bid. You are required to wright out the bid as to what it is, the amount you want to go to and your complete contact information. If you are well known by the auctioneer just what, how much and your name, not well known but slightly include your address and phone number. Family member is an auctioneer and one other auction company is same way. If not one of these groups of auctioneers I do not go to the sale. And they are required to anounce they have an absentee bid if the bid price is below what they have at the time. So if you leave a bid for say $500 and it starts at $450 they have to anounce they have the absentee bid, If it starts at $510 they do not have to anounce it.
