I keep mine (snot) soaked into a cotton handkerchief in my hip pocket. A cotton handkerchief will not irritate your nose like Kleenex or other paper products will. The paper products are made of wood and their microscopic fibers act like tiny splinters on the sensitive, internal membrane near the end of your nostrils. The chemicals used to bleach the paper white, when brought into solution in your nostrils, are very irritating to that membrane. Using paper products on you nose occasionally is OK but if you are sick with a runny nose, paper products will contribute to the redness and irritation of your nostrils.
