I have a 1964 Ford 4 cyl. 4000 that would eat a voltage regulator once a season. I asked the YT'ers for advice and someone suggested installing a Clover Systems DRM electronic voltage regulator. I wanted to keep my stock generator. The DRM fits under the cover of the stock regulator after you take the guts out of the stock unit. It took me about 3 hours to put the DRM under the cover, but if I had to do it again it could be done in under 30 min. You have to remove the coils and contacts, drill out some rivets, amd drill new holes for the hold down screws. I almost made a mistake by not putting an insulator on one of the screws on the field conductor. I ended up using a plastic electrical connector on the scew threads. After installation the unit put out 14.8 volts, just as it should. I will do a follow up in a few weeks
