Thanks for the information. It does sound like they built these to last with tungsten carbide seats. I would hate to have to have to regrind the angle on the seats. A person would need a diamond cutting tool to do it. Even sapphire stones and other materials aren't much harder than tungsten carbide. Also it sounds like the engineers did this to maintain clearance without having the valves gradually sinking into the head. My Dexta engines don't have insert seats so eventually the cast iron erodes so that insert seats have to be installed.
Since the stems on RBoots's valves weren't worn I guess it was more expedient to bore out the guides and press in off the shelf guides to restore proper stem clearance.
