I sat on the porch and listened to the republican convention when Minnesota changed it's vote and gave Ike the nomination. That was back in the days when it was not known for sure until the convention who would get the most votes. It was between Taft and Ike.
Also, remember the picture in the paper of Adali Stevenson with the bottom of his shoe showing that he had a hole in the sole.
I was a senior in high school and in general assembly listened to Ike's inauguration speech. No TV's in school then. Two years later he was at the top of my chain of command list in Army.
Also, remember the school bus driver with his I like Ike buttons and I think a Ike & Dick.
