Up here in Canada, our version of CL is Kijiji, a huge buy-sell site along with all the advertising. I've always thought that their categories for listing are archaic. And sometimes I see things advertised in a certain category that I can never seem to find when I want to post something for sale myself. I'm sure they have received the same kinds of concerns that you mention, yet they don't seem to do anything to improve the categories or make them more easily available.
