Decided to change over to 12v. Bought the ABC524 alternator and mount from YT. Had a spare 12v coil. Installed everything as per the wiring diagram supplied with the alternator. Took a 12 volt battery from the camper and hooked it up negative ground. Started tractor and no output from alternator. Reved the engine up as fast as it would go and still no output. The only thing I didn't change is the amp meter. It shows a small discharge. Went back over the wiring several times all is as per the wiring diagram. There is a diode between the plug on the alternator to the ignition switch, I don't know what this is for but it passes current in one direction but not the other with an ohm meter. I am at a loss as to what is wrong. Any help would be appreciated.
