The second post is not a ground, may be for a rear support brace on some applications.
Have you checked out the starter? Could be dragging, shorted internally and drawing too much amperage. If there is a starter shop near you, might let them take a look at it.
How is the battery? Charging as it should? Trying to crank with a low/bad battery stresses solenoids, causes them to arc and draw high current.
Are the cable connections good and clean? Good ground to the engine? Cables of sufficient size? Most generic cables from the auto supply are more insulation than wire. If any are heating up, they are too small.
