I have a friend that lives close to Chicago. He grows produce and such. He put in his first corn maze 9-10 years ago. He is now averaging 175-200K people through it each season. $5 per head. It costs him $35K to get it planted. Fellow that does it uses a computer to make the design and then it is down loaded to a special planter. It plants on 15 inch rows, alternated and with automatic shut offs. He grows a taller corn that has large stalks. His population is around 40,000.
He told me the corn maze was the only thing keeping him going as produce price has dropped or moved to organic. His ground is river bottoms and has every weed known to man so organic would be a tough row to hoe there. LOL
