Just wanted to post something on the flip side to all the horror stories. My BIL "lent" me his brush hog years ago. I offered to buy it from him as he then got a finish mower and then later a zero-turn. He said no to me every time I brought it up. just laughed and said "just think of it as you're storing it for me". Anyway, last year he needed to clear some brush along a creek and he borrowed my DR Brush Mower. Brought it back a couple of weeks later. I started using it and after a while the chain started popping off. Took a look and the sprockets were not in line. Something looked different, didn't realize what it was but I adjusted them quite a bit and everything was fine. Next time I saw him I mentioned it, kidding him that he "broke" my brush mower. He laughed and said "how did you know?" Turns out that he DID bust it and took it into the dealer for repair. I told him that I could probably have fixed it for a lot less than what the dealer charged him and what did I owe him. His response was "I borrowed it, I broke it, I fixed it. It is none of your concern how much I paid". He's the only guy that I'll lend to. BTW, still keep trying to buy that brush mower from him that I use regularly and his answer is the same "no, keep your money".
