Used to be parts weren't obsoleted until the 20 year mark, now days they are obsoleting stuff at 10 years. In other words, they make junk that they don't expect to last beyond ten years so they don't need to carry parts for it.
That said, I can understand not carrying large, major, items that require a major expense to make and stock, or things that could be repaired by welding, patching, etc, but the smaller stuff should be on the shelf, somewhere.
Recently I tried finding a third valve lever kit for a compact tractor that was maybe 12 years old. The way it was situated required a lot of special stuff to get to the valve, and work the extra spool. Not only could Deere not get the kit anymore, they couldn't even get any individual replacement parts.
Now who spends $15,000 on a machine they expect to be able to use, and then expects to find out 12 years later that one of the hydraulic control levers isn't available for it.
Ultimately this isn't a Deere only issue, as all manufacturers are doing the same thing to some degree. The real problem is that people keep buying the stuff....and fussing about it......instead of telling them to keep their new JUNK, and buying an older machine with either brand specific, or generic, aftermarket support.
