Never did understand why they did that on the Quietline series. Not like they hadn't figured out how to make simple odometer style readout in the mid 1970s. Mine is now hooked up to a MTD/Cub Cadet hour meter as the original quit working around the 600 hour mark. The replacement fits perfectly in the same hole and started at "0" with the overhaul of the Kohler engine.
A new Quietline in 1979 would have been quite the expense.
