Have you checked all your fuses? I have exactly the same truck as yours but an '03 (I expect it to be the same as an '02), the fuse box where your trailer harness is plugged in is to the left of your feet under the dash. On mine there's also a little fuse panel you access when the driver's door is open and the big one under the hood of course. If you have a tester with a sharp end you can poke through the insulation of the wire with current from the controller... try and follow the wire all the way to the back to find where the current is gone... not always an easy task. If it's not a fuse it will be a poor connection somewhere.
