I don't doubt you a bit about how it came from the factory. But then....the factory probably put lead paint on the thing and you probably wouldn't do that today. When I do a "restoration", or whatever it's called nowadays, I try to keep it original, but sometimes the factory made improvements since a tractor was built to make it better or safer. Let's see now, what was it with International Harvester tractors and bad gas caps........ Also, sometimes they get judges that have no business being a judge. I was a poultry superintendent on the county fair level for over 15 years and about half the time the poultry judge had no business being a judge whatsoever. One "judge" told me that she was a 4H member for 10 years, so that made her an expert at judging poultry. Hopefully, the kid who got this tractor into the shape that it is in today at least learned something about his project, even if this tractor is a mutt instead of a purebred.
