That hood style was normal on a lot of vehicals at that time. One handle on each side that you could pull and lift that side of hood for access to that side of engine or pull both handles and just lift the entire hood off. One could do it but it was easier with 2. My 48 Buick same weay and I removed and replaced the hood by myself many a time and it was a lot heavier than on the International truck.
