I’ve had two close encounters with copperheads in recent years. One of those could have been unpleasant because the snake was exactly arm’s length from my face. Fortunately, they don’t seem to be the least bit aggressive. On the other hand, though, they stand their ground and seem to be without fear.
I always wear boots and keep the snake gaiters handy for tromping around in rough, rocky areas.
Poochie got a sore leg but you seem to indicate a complete recovery is in order.
