I will not mourn the decline and eventual demise of fairs. Games of chance are rigged towards the operators. Food prices are sky high for mediocre food - most of which would not pass a health code inspection. Rides are assembled, operated, and cared for by "carnies" - folks that usually live "off the grid" for one reason or another. You will never bet me on a Ferris wheel or any of those "high altitude" rides. Too far to fall and too much potential for injury. However, rural America has a bright future. Many folks like to be away from having your neighbor at arm's reach across your driveway.
