The salvage law only applies to vehicles 6 model years old or newer. Older than that and it is strictly voluntary but it explicitly states that they prefer not to have to deal with salvage title applications either from ins co,s or individuals. So if your ins co. says they have to by law, print off the website wording and prove to them they are flat ars lying! They do it on older vehicles because they get a kick back from the auto manufacturers. You won't be able to prove it but it's true. The "LAW" has always been ( in MI) 6 model years or newer for slvg titles.
