Anyone ever have luck using an older gm small block oil cooler in return line for a wood splitter set-up? Return line has a few 3/8 pipe fittings and hose on this oil cooler has 3/8"-1/2" ID oil lines. My wood splitter is home made and I pull it around with my tractor. Splitter has a small oil tank and works fine to dissipate heat yet neighbor suggested I use a oil cooler to reduce oil temp in hotter weather. I tend to try not to use it in hot weather when I can help it. Neighbor even thought using ATF may be better than using hydraulic oil or universal tractor fluid.
