It's hardened. Back when we traded are Oliver for a John Deere. The first problem we had was the Oliver drawbar was much heavier and had a larger hole in the Deere drawbar. Dad took the Deere drawbar to the welding shop wanting them to make the hole larger. They quickly said no sent dad back home. We had to find smaller pins.
