Take the starter off the tractor. Set it on the ground. Attach a jumper cable to the body flange and the opposite end to a 12v battery. Connect the other jumper to the battery. Put your foot on it very firmly. Touch the remaining jumper lead to the solenoid terminal that goes directly into the starter. If it radically spins and tries to get out from under your foot, it is probably good. If nothing you need it rebuilt or new. Jim
