Grandson and I are working on reshingling a black roof here in southern MN. Temps have been in the high 80s to high 90s with humidity around 70 percent and heat index from around 100 to 105. The seal-down strips act just like contact cement -- they stick to hammers, roofing square, anything else they touch if we're not careful. I shot a touchless thermometer at the shingles that were in the sun, and they were hot enough (seriously) to kill e-coli bacteria in ground beef -- around 160 degrees. We try to keep working in shady spots as the sun moves across the sky.
