Assuming you were careful when you replaced the plug wires and didn't switch any of them and you didn't move the distributor timing should not be an issue. Remove the drain plug from the carburetor bowl or open the drain petcock on the carb. It should drain a steady steam of gas for several minutes if you have a good supply of fuel. Since it was running OK, then stopped and you found no spark to be the cause, I suspect that the spark plug wires may have gotten mixed when being replaced, which would of course result in an out-of-time condition. Just a wild guess.
