Funny thing about range and accuracy, the US military has done multiple studies on this. The average combat soldier is not comfortable or effective with anything much over 200 meters. That's one of the reasons that snipers in WWII were so effective. They were firing on average between 200 and 450 meters just outside of the effective range most grunts were comfortable with even though their rifles were good out much past that.

Today that's changing ever so slowly with the fielding of better sights for the common infantry soldier.

Another interesting thing. Mikhail Kalashnikov made no money on the AK47.
