Sounds like the seals for the high clutch pack are leaking. The pressure should drop for such a short time that the light would not even come on. With seals leaking it will just push back into low. You will need to split it, remove the DP and replace seals and rings. I rebuilt mine around '03, it wasn't that big a job. I didn't need any of the special tools that the book calls for. You will need a shop manual though.
