If the sprayer is like mine the control valve is on the sprayer. To reach it you have to reach way behind you. I have had to stand and lean over the seat to reach it once in awhile. That's why I use an open tractor for spraying. He had the window removed so he could reach out to turn the sprayer on would be my guess. Possibly he unhooked the brackets that hold the window at the bottom so it would open further. Either way I would bet he was leaning out the back to turn sprayer on or off while tractor was moving.
