I've got an early (1982) Bobcat 743 that instantly developed drive and steering issues. When trying to steer both right and left when standing still the machine emits a loud growling noise. Also it happens when going forward and reverse. The noise sounds like the pump is cavitating , almost like air is in the system. The lifting and dump hydraulics operate fine. I believe the early 743's have only one hydraulic pump to operate all functions.
I have a shop manual but the troubleshooting section doesn't seem to address my issue. I did check the hydraulic fluid level, it was low and I added oil. Hope someone can help [email protected]
