My experience has been that wide front tractors give you a false sense of security. Every tractor has three point suspension so long as the front axle pivots in the center. On a side hill the axle is still pretty much centered so if the left front wheel hits a hole the axle pivots and the front end starts down. Pretty big hole to get most axles to the stop and when that happens the stop is uphill and the tractor is ready to roll. On a smooth side hill if the tractor rolls toward downhill and hits the stop it's already tipped too far over for the stop to do any good. That wheel out there makes you feel good but I don't think it does much good. When a tricycle front hits a big hole the front of the tractor goes right down which I think helps you to know to stop.
Rear tire weight is very important. Slow speeds are very important. I like tricycle because I stay puckered and don't get careless. I think it would be interesting to see how otherwise identical tractors perform with WF vs NF on a side hill situation. I always watch for tractor rollover pictures and I can't recall a NF but of course most tractors, especially those in the hands of novices, are WF.
