Thanks for the good ideas. Another reason for taking it out, besides the oil leaks, is that I had a dwell on it many years ago and all sorts of lights were flashing on the meter indicating worn bushings and/or lobes. I'm sure it's even worse today. Planned on building up a tight unit just to drop in when the manifold was back on. I thought if I could spin it in a lathe, it wouldn't take but a couple minutes to set up. I got nothing against HEI, I just don't have one. Got a few good points units though. Even though I'm a Ford guy, I think the HEI is the best idea of all. I have seen in Ford-only catalogs HEIs with lower housings to fit 351M thru 460, which I thought was pretty funny. I thought,"It's about time we had a good ignition".
