Find something thats comfortable and go with it. Waterproof? Get rubber boots. Personally I can't stomach paying over $100.00 (or $60 for that matter!) regardless of where they were made. I saw boots being made in shops in Korea and having the "MADE IN THE USA" tag sewn on right in front of me. And those were a brand name boot with hundreds being put in boxes for shipment. So I don't put much faith in truth in labeling anymore.
I've never had any leather boots that were actually waterproof, I've never had any boot of any kind that my feet didn't sweat in. YMMV, but these days cheap Walmart sneakers do about as good as any boot in places I don't need steel toes.
