I recommend you get Gore-Tex lined boots. Gore-Tex keeps your feet dry by both preventing water from coming in and allowing sweat to escape. I've had several pairs of Danner and Red-Wing boots with Gore-Tex lining. (There are other proprietary materials similar to Gore-Tex that may be just as good, but I have no experience with them.)
The top-of-the-line, made in the USA Red Wing boots are very good. My preferred style is 2414, which are Gore-Tex lined but not insulated. These boots cost over $200 a pair. You can buy the imported Red Wings for less, but they will not have the excellent "SuperSole".
My experience with brands other than Red Wing is limited for the simple reason that most companies don't make boots or shoes in narrow widths. I don't believe I'm the only person on the planet with narrow feet, which tells me there are a lot of people walking around in shoes that don't fit.
