I bought this Alamo flail mower at an auction last year. I'd like to try it on a small lot I mow a few times a year.
It didn't come with a driveshaft, so obviously I need to buy one. Can I assume I do not need a slip clutch since it is belt drive? My assumption would be that the belt would slip if it got jammed up on something. What size shaft would I need for a 7' flail? I was thinking a series 4 shaft. Big enough?
I'm also thinking the offset on this mower will make it a bear to trailer. What kind of a project would it be to move the gearbox to the center? Extending the driveshaft would be my concern. Cutting and rewelding the 3 point mounts looks pretty straightforward.
