I have had luck with the dried spice seeds, oregano, coriander I've done. Also the seeds from dried peppers I have had some success, pitins and some Sichuan peppers. Not much trouble to throw a few seeds in a pot and see if they come up.
Also, earlier this year had a good cantaloupe, dug out the seeds and dried a couple of days and put around a big pine stump. Had a bunch come up. But I'm sure everybody does that.
