God is good... the list is long (and I'm sure I have forgotten some):

A local farmer harvested our beans years ago when my husband busted his foot all up - they would NOT let us pay them. Then they harvested our corn crop and only charged us for trucking costs.

A friend of my sister's watched our infant daughter for a day when I landed in the hospital with a serious case of pneumonia 20-some years ago.

When I was a teen, a farm family we did not know, took-in me and a friend for an overnight when we got stuck in a bad snow storm and walked up to their farm to call home.

In my 20's, I slid backwards down an steep, icy hill and got stuck backwards on the side of the road... a tow truck driver saw it happen and promptly pulled over and pulled me out and told me a safer road to reach my destination. He would not let me pay him - said he must have been in that place at that time for a reason (to help me).

When my car engine started on fire in a busy town, one good guy drove to the fire station to inform them. Another good guy came running across a busy street and whipped my car hood open and doused the fire with an extinguisher.

The former owner of our Farmall Regular sold it to us for only $200 bucks (at a time when the scrap value was at least $400)... but it was his grandfather's tractor and he wanted to see my husband get 'er running again.

From our YT tractor buddies, the list is long:

The C-Illinoiz tractor boyz sent me a hot-pink DEKALB cap.

The Old family from MO has sent me recipes.

The Corner family has sent seeds and gifts of delicious home-canned goodies.

Wayne NC sent me a great photo of a logo that says "AMERICAN"... for a project that I REALLY need to get 'er done - then post pics.

The Richard G. family has sent me seeds too... another package arrived this spring with some beautifulIndian corn. I need to get some planted yet - been pretty wet here this spring.

Greenmech built me my super cool sewing machine "tractor" at a really reasonable price - THEN delivered it to our home - AND he and his wife gave this old hippie a way-cool necklace for an old hippie chick.

HOPE I DID NOT FORGET ANYONE!!!

I have tried to do some random acts of kindness in return to many of these folks...
but think I still have a couple to whom I need to repay their kindness.

Today's Featured Article - The Nuts and Bolts of Fasteners - Part 2 - by Curtis Von Fange. In our previous article we discussed capscrews, bolts, and nuts along with their relative hardness and thread sizes. In this segment we will finish up on our fasteners and then work with ways to keep them from loosening up in the field. Capscrews, bolts and nuts are not the only means of holding two parts together. When dealing with thinner metals like sheet tin, a long bolt and ... [Read Article]
