There are several dealers buying up the nicer looking 100 hp and bigger tractors and shipping them state side . The market for these older tractors is very soft here , and a 25 -30 year old Alis , Mf, White ,Case, and Ford tractors, as well as imports like Duets , can be be bought for 10 grand or less . Usually much less . While IH , CaseIH , and JD tractors still command a better price . Dealers claim with the low Canadian dollar , and the declining number of farmers the market for these tractors , isn't in Canada . Farmers that are buying the 100 plus hp tractors are either buying late models , or new with warranty, and of course leasing is also popular with many . The cost of parts and repairs , combine with the fact parts for many tractors are now not available from dealers , is making farmers here in Canada shy away from older tractors. Getting so you don't want to spend too much into repairs on a older tractor, because you will never get the money back . The simple tractors without power shift tranys , seem to hod their value better as well. When 4 new tires can equal half the value of a tractor, there is some thing wrong.
