: I recently inherited a small farm(24 acres) and a MF 35 which seems to run great. Not being raised on a farm can someone give me advice on the best way to learn about tractor operation and which attachments to use. This will be a hobby for me but I still want to learn. First the tractor owner's manual. And then the manuals for any implements. Then look for a 50's vintage book from JD on operation of farm machinery. It tells what each implement does and has some on how to use it. Ask your state's agriculture extension for publications on small farms, farm equipment and farm safety. Otherwise look at http://www.exnet.iastate.edu/ for such publications. Don't get off the tractor seat with any implement running. Make no adjustments with any power operating. Look out for moving parts. Older farm equipment isn't as well shielded as modern equipment. Presume it will hurt you unless it has a cushioned handle or seat. Don't roto till with the mower. Top serrated sickle sections are sharper after they wear a while. Wear hearing, eye, hand, and head protection. Gerald
