It came from factory positive ground, but will work equally well if properly configured for negative ground.
If you are just going to use a battery charger and not add a generator there is no need to change it.
If you add a generator, take notice of the regulator. If regulator specifies positive ground then change the system. If regulator specifies negative ground or either polarity you can use it as is. Polarize the generator before starting the engine.
If you switch to 12 volt with alternator it must be negative ground unless you use a specially modified alternator.
Other than originality there is nothing sacred about keeping it positive ground
