Well guys, here's an update on the Winpower generator disassembly project:
I pulled the slip rings off and cut off the windings. The rotor is a stacked core that is mounted on a keyed shaft, held in place with a snap ring on one end and large push nut style washer on the other.
I took it to a friend who has a 12 ton press, and the shaft pressed right out with very little effort.
There was no point in trying to fix the generator. Parts NLA, and re-winding it would have cost more than a new generator.
Now I can turn this into a 3600RPM driveshaft for the cost of a pillow block bearing and some scrap steel. At least salvage something out of the generator.
